34 million Sudanese, meaning 72% of the population – need humanitarian assistance. This includes 29 million people who are acutely food insecure. Almost 10 million are internally displaced . A third of these households reported that at least one member went an entire day and night without eating within the past month due to insufficient food.
The crisis erupted in April 15, 2023, over 150,000 people have been killed and 13 million have been displaced. Sudan’s armed forces (SAF) General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, whose forces operate in alignment with Sudan’s Muslim Brotherhood networks, has rejected every peace proposal put to him, including the most recent framework backed by the United State, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. Al-Burhan’s stated position remains unchanged: the war ends only through total SAF victory.
